I gave a talk this past weekend at WordCamp Baltimore about “Getting People to Give You Money Via WordPress”. It was distilled from my talk at this year’s WordPcamp Philly about non-profit web design. Among other solutions I gave some time to demo the new Give plugin by WordImpress. Here’s a PDF of my presentation slides.
We have settled on a name for our upcoming WordPress Managed and Support Services venture. It is…WP Night Owl! I searched far and wide for a unique name, and decided upon WP Night Owl because it suits my nature – I’m a night owl and often work late.
Formal launch will be as soon as I restructure our business – as I intend WP Night Owl to be a separate business but under the umbrella of PajamaWeb. That will be done as soon as our taxes are done, so during the month of April. We’re also working on a new website.
In the meantime, we can take clients for maintenance services one-by-one as part of PajamaWeb. If your WordPress site is not getting the TLC it needs, please contact us. We have plans starting at $39/month.
In the next month or so, PajamaWeb will be rolling out subscription-based maintenance packages for WordPress sites. Routine maintenance is not optional! Updates bring improved functionality and performance, not to mention the enormous market share WordPress now enjoys (which is still growing) means *lots* of sites with out-of-date WordPress versions, plugins, and themes are providing plenty of fodder for bots to hack. For whatever reason, data loss or a damaged installation could occur, meaning your website is inaccessible or unusable. Have routine backups of your database and files been made?
Many site owners have neither the time nor tech savvy to regularly update their sites from the backend. And let’s admit it, sometimes updates don’t go off smoothly, and if you’re technically challenged, you’re going to be lost and in a serious bind if you don’t know how to recover from such a situation. And what if your site gets hacked?
That’s why PajamaWeb is stepping up to the plate to provide maintenance services. You don’t need to have been one of our clients; you just need a (self-hosted) WordPress site. We will be providing several plan options. The details are still being worked out and tested, but what we’re looking at offering so far is:
Security scans and monitoring
Cloud backup services
WordPress core, theme and plugin updates
Tutorial videos (WordPress content editing, Yoast SEO, Google Analytics, and WooCommerce)
Support/consulting time increments
We want you to have peace of mind about your website, and maintenance services will help provide that peace of mind, knowing that your site is working smoothly, up-to-date and secure at any time.
